For Students
This section offers a number of links and resources for students seeking scholarship assistance. Let's start with the basics:
How Do I Find and Apply for a Scholarship?
Check in with the Counselling Office or Career Center at your high school. Let the counselor know you are interested in going to college and in available scholarships.
It's the old squeaky wheel idea...If they know you are seriously interested, they will usually watch out for you and give you extra help because of your initiative. This may give you an inside track on scholarship information.
What Should I Watch Out for When Filling Out My FAFSA?
The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) has put together an excellent guide entitled FAFSA Tips and Common Mistakes To Avoid, which they've allowed us to reprint here. Check out the guide by clicking here, and if you'd like more great information, head over to NASFAA's Parent and Student Financial Aid Resource Center.
Where Can I Learn More?
We'd encourage you to visit the Student Resources section of ScholarshipAmerica.org, our parent organization. There, you'll find tips on everything from picking the right college for you, to finding financial aid, to maximizing your time in college.
You can also check our Scholarship Tips and Planning section for more useful resources.
