Dollars for Scholars is a local, volunteer-operated, community based
scholarship foundation legally affiliated with Scholarship America (formerly
known as Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America).

The local foundation is known as a Dollars for Scholars chapter. (A few
chapters call themselves Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of [community].)
Chapters may be organized by any group of interested citizens. Some are
organized around a particular school, neighborhood, school district or
community organization.

Generally, Dollars for Scholars Chapters provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors planning to attend any accredited, post-secondary educational institutions. This includes, trade and technical institutes and colleges, community and junior colleges and four year colleges and universities.

Some Chapters may provide continuing education scholarships and post-graduate scholarships. It's best to check with the Chapter in your area to see what scholarships they offer.

 

To Apply For A Dollars For Scholars Scholarship:

  • Check to determine if there is a Dollars for Scholars Chapter serving your High School or geographical area.
  • NOTE: Some schools, communities and counties are served by multiple Dollars for Scholars Chapters.
  • You may submit scholarship applications to any Dollars for Scholars Chapter serving your school as long as you meet the specific requirements and criteria for the scholarship offered. (One application per Chapter.)
  • In addition, you may apply for any scholarships offered through the National Office of Dollars for Scholars as long as you meet specific requirements and criteria for the scholarship offered.
  • Call the California Dollars for Scholars Regional Office at 1(800)335-4504 or (714)505-0561 for Chapter telephone number and contact person.
  • Obtain a Dollars for Scholars scholarship application from your high school's Career Guidance / Counseling Office or from your local Dollars for Scholars Chapter.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If there are multiple Chapters serving your area, you may apply to ALL Chapters if you meet the specific criteria for each Chapter's scholarships. You must prepare separate applications using each Chapter's individual scholarship application form.
  • Complete and submit the form(s).

There are no scholarships available directly through the California Regional Office. All scholarships are awarded through each Chapter. Please check below to determine if there is a Dollars for Scholars Chapter serving your area/high school.

  • If there IS a Chapter in your area the Regional Dollars for Scholars office will refer you to a Chapter representative.
  • If there is NOT a Chapter in your area, please refer to the "General Tips: Searching for a Scholarship" section below. Please do not call the Regional Office.

Currently, more than 1000 Dollars for Scholars chapters are active nationwide.

Dollars for Scholars is a program of Scholarship America, a national, nonprofit, student aid service organization.

Scholarship America was founded in 1958 by Dr. Irving A. Fradkin in Fall River, Massachusetts, and incorporated as a national organization in 1961.
